Virtual ECAP

Beginning with the 2020 - 2021 school year, students who are assigned to ECAP for punitive reasons for more than ten days generally participate virtually. The student's teachers from his/her base school are responsible for assigning all work for the student, most often in Edgenuity or Google Classroom. ECAP instructional staff are available to assist students as needed, and each student assigned to Virtual ECAP will have an ECAP advisor who monitors the student's progress. Virtual ECAP has certified content area specialists for all core subjects in grades seven through twelve, certified elementary teachers, special education teachers, paraprofessionals, and a mental health counselor available to serve students through phone calls and online meetings.

Making adequate daily progress is essential when a student is assigned to Virtual ECAP. When students do not complete enough work each week, additional days may be added to the student's time in Virtual ECAP.

A parent or guardian must complete an online intake form for all students who are assigned to Virtual ECAP. A link to this form is below.

The majority of the rules for traditional ECAP do not apply to those students who are participating in Virtual ECAP; however, the following rules apply to all students who are assigned punitive days at ECAP (including traditional, short term, and virtual):

To ensure students are completing their academic activities each day, they are required to successfully  complete 2 or more activities in each subject and a minimum of twenty (20) activities each day. Failure to complete this requirement will result in that day not counting as a day of their activities and will extend their ECAP release date.

Students who are assigned to ECAP for disciplinary reasons are not allowed on any school property or allowed to participate in any extra-curricular activities in Elmore County Schools.  If this rule is violated, thirty additional days will be added to the student’s stay at ECAP.
