As a school, we are committed to developing students who will contribute to society and learn to love learning.  We hope that they will become productive citizens, aware of their natural, political, social and economic environments.  Our 21st Century Community Learning Center is yet another opportunity for us to do our best so that our students can be their best.

We have willingly taken on the responsibility of this extended-day program to work towards the following goals:

- Improve performance on statewide student assessments.  We will enrich your child in reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, technology, fine arts and physical education.
- Provide regularly scheduled enrichment activities including homework assistance and critical thinking.
- Improve personal choices and increase a desire to be a life-long learner.  We will provide appropriate counseling to help students make wise choices about many aspects of life and behavior.
- Improve student attendance by making learning a fun and exciting experience.
- Provide a safe, drug-free, nurturing environment for 2 1/2 hours after school each day.  We will also provide a nutritious snack.
- Increase involvement among parents in the educational and social development of their children.  We will have periodic classes for the adults in the students' lives, and will have several "family nights" of fun, fellowship and discovery.

We have 113 standards to which we are held accountable, some from the office of Federal Programs of the State Department of Education, some from the National Association of Elementary School Principals for after-school quality programs and some from the National Parent Teacher Association for quality family involvement and enrichment.  We know that healthy kids come from healthy families, and we strive to improve the well-being of our county, our community of Millbrook, our homes and our children.

We can no longer merely teach our children the facts.  In our ever-changing world, we strive to provide them with the tools that they need to find information, evaluate that information, and make informed decisions as productive citizens.  We hope that, above all, our participants will know and embrace their self-worth because of the relevant, engaging and positive learning environments that we can offer them through this program.  We expect that they will have the desire to continue always with their academic, social and emotional growth.

We know that all students can learn, but we also know that different children have different learning styles.  The 21CCLC program can reinforce what the classroom teacher is doing in so many different ways.  In a safe environment, they can explore these challenges under the supervision of and "one on one" help from qualified teachers and nurturing staff.  Facts, options, opportunities, self-esteem, success... all are served up daily with equal emphasis, as we strive to reach and foster the "whole child."

Two aspects of our program for which we are extremely proud are the family and community involvement. We offer a variety of opportunities for our parents and guardians to expand their horizons and learn to help our children and themselves, as we acknowledge that educated citizens are vital to our society. We also seek the help of community organizations and offer our help to our local community in the form of service projects for the center.

If you are interested in enrolling your child, please call the school office and ask for a registration form.  We currently have a few slots open and would like to be able to serve your family.
