The Holtville 21st Century Community Learning Center is dedicated to providing excellent services based on priorities set by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. We vow to:
- Improve performance on statewide student assessments. We will enrich your child in reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, technology, fine arts, and physical education.
- Provide regularly scheduled enrichment activities including homework assistance and critical thinking.
- Improve personal choices and increase a desire to be a life-long learner. We will provide appropriate counseling to help students make wise choices about many aspects of life and behavior.
- Improve student attendance by making learning a fun and exciting experience.
- Provide a safe, drug-free, nurturing environment for 2 1/2 hours after school each day. We will also provide a nutritious snack.
- Increase involvement among parents in the educational and social development of their children. We will have periodic classes for the adults in the students' lives and will have several "family nights" of fun, fellowship and discovery.
We want to provide relevant, engaging, positive learning environments at the center and "on the road" as we explore many venues of history and science during our summer field trips. Our students will have "hands on" experiences that will serve them for a lifetime as they grow into life-long learners.
We strive to empower our participants to realize their self-worth, and we know that this is working. They meet their parents every day full of enthusiasm with a story to tell about what they experienced, what they learned, what they did. We see their daily academic, social and emotional growth.
We are committed to excellence in our own performance and in the performance of our children. They are our future. They will serve us well as they continue to learn under our qualified and nurturing staff, develop a positive sense of themselves, set goals for excellence in school and their personal lives, learn to utilize and give back to their communities, develop a deep respect for their home, family, local community and nation, and learn to yearn for a life of charity, commitment, respect and challenge.
